Explicit language is everywhere, in the music, on television, in movies, and
you hear people using foul language every day; it is all around us. I used to curse back in the day myself, so bad that I did not even realize I was cursing. It was part of my vocabulary. It took me a long time to stop cursing, so I try my best to not be around people that do, nor watch or listen to anything that contains explicit language.
I am not judging those that do because that is your prerogative. I just feel
that you can get your point across without having to use explicit fillers to do
so.
But the question you should be asking yourself is "do you want to please God?" If so, then you should consider the words you speak. If your character and reputation are important to you, then you should also consider the people you associate with.
The people you associate with on
a regular basis can have a tremendous effect on you. Such a big affect,
that you can start sounding and acting like them. Speaking from experience,
your circle of influence can affect you positively and/or negatively. That is
why you should surround yourself with people that will edify you and lift you
up. People that have a positive attitude and can give you wisdom about life and
any future goals you want to accomplish.
If you want to stop using profane language, you can! With God all things are
possible. Ask God to forgive you and deliver you from that stronghold. It
will not happen over night, but you will be more cognizant of the words you
choose when communicating with others. After a while, you will notice a change in your words. Remember, you can do all things
through Christ that strengthens you.
Bible verses to meditate on:
Eph 4:29 Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.
Col 3:7-8 You used to walk in these ways, in the
life you once lived. But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as
these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips.
Psa
19:14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable
in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.
